Academy (for parents)

If your venue runs an academy — junior development programs, squads, teams — this chapter is for the parent or guardian managing a player's involvement.

Web vs app — what's where

CourtPass academy features split across the web portal and the apps:

  • Web portal: announcements, the program/team schedule, billing, registrations, and a partial view of the team store.
  • iOS / Android apps: the full experience — registration and intake forms, event RSVP, schedule with calendar export, team rosters, the full team store with checkout (including Apple Pay / Google Pay), following a live game, and per-player development and attendance.

Where something is app-only or app-richer, it's called out below.

Registering a player

  1. As the parent/guardian, sign in with your own account.
  2. Open the academy program and register your player. The player is set up as a minor under your guardianship, so comms and billing route to you.
  3. Complete the intake form — the questions the program needs (medical notes, emergency contact, consents, etc.). Intake forms are filled in the app.

If you have more than one child in the program, register each as a separate player under your account.

Events and RSVP

Programs post events (training, games, trials). For each event you can RSVP: In, Out, or Maybe. Coaches use your responses to plan numbers, so keep them up to date.

RSVP is an app feature. On the web you can see the schedule; respond from the app.

Schedule and calendar export

The schedule shows upcoming sessions, games, and events for your player's team. You can export it to your own calendar via ICS (an "Add to calendar" / export option), so academy dates land alongside the rest of your life. The schedule is visible on both web and app.

Team rosters

See who's in your player's team — the roster of players and the coaching staff. Rosters are shown in the app.

Team store

Programs can run a team store for kit, uniforms, and gear.

  • App: browse the full store, place orders, and pay — including with Apple Pay / Google Pay (see Payments).
  • Web: a partial store view. For ordering and checkout, use the app.

Following a live game

During a game, you can follow along live in the app — scores and game updates as they happen, so you don't miss a moment even if you can't be courtside.

Minors privacy: live game features for junior players follow a privacy model designed around minors — what's shown, and to whom, is scoped so a child's participation isn't broadcast more widely than the venue's safeguarding rules allow. If you have questions about what's visible, ask the venue.

Player development and attendance

For each player you can see their development notes and attendance record — how often they've shown up, and the feedback coaches log against their progress. This is a per-player view in the app.

Announcements and chat

Program announcements arrive in your Inbox (web, read-only) and as push in the app. For two-way conversation with coaches and other parents — team chats, parent groups, polls — use the app. See Chat.

Billing

Academy billing (program fees, memberships) is handled like any other CourtPass payment and subscription. Manage the card on file and invoices through the payment provider's portal via the Manage subscription via Stripe → link on your account page. See Memberships and Payments.

Common scenarios

"I registered on the web but can't fill the intake form"

Intake forms are completed in the app. Install the iOS / Android app, sign in, and open your player's registration to finish it.

"I can't RSVP from my laptop"

RSVP is an app feature. The web shows the schedule; respond from the app.

"I want to buy team kit but only see part of the store"

The web store is partial. Open the app for the full store and checkout (Apple Pay / Google Pay supported).

"Who can see my child during a live game?"

Live game visibility for minors is scoped by the venue's safeguarding settings. If you're unsure what's shown, ask the venue directly.
